Who I am
My name is Alberto Lins, and I write the guides you will find on this site. All of them are about the same thing: online learning that does not cost you money — free courses, free certificates, and the study habits that make them worth finishing. I started this project because I had spent years learning that way myself, and I kept running into the same frustration.
The problem I kept running into
Almost every "free online course" list has a catch. You follow one, put in fifteen hours of lessons, reach the last module — and the certificate, the only part you can actually show an employer, turns out to cost money. The learning was free. The proof was not. Nobody tells you that on the way in.
After that happened to me enough times, I started keeping my own notes: which platforms genuinely give you the credential, which ones only let you audit the material, and which ones change the rules depending on the month or the country you are in. Those notes are what this site grew out of.
How I work
I check every course at the official source — the provider's own page on Google, edX, Coursera, freeCodeCamp, or the university's own site. Never an aggregator, never someone else's summary. Then I label it honestly: fully free, free to audit with a paid certificate, or worth verifying yourself because it depends on a promotion or a region.
Platforms change their pricing without warning, so I go back and re-check the directory every quarter. Something that was fully free in January can quietly move behind a paywall by April, and I would rather catch that than leave you to find out at the finish line.
Why I keep studying
I do not write about learning from the outside. I am still working through courses myself — mostly in digital publishing, analytics, and the tools that keep a site like this running — which is the main reason I can tell a course that respects your time from one that wastes it. If I would not spend a weekend on it, I do not recommend it here.
What I am working toward
The goal is simple: make this the place where someone who cannot afford a degree or a bootcamp can still find a credible, verified path to a skill and the certificate that proves it. Free learning is genuinely abundant now. Honest information about which of it is worth your time is not. That gap is what I am trying to close.
Get in touch
If a course listed here has changed its terms, if a link no longer works, or if you want to suggest a certificate worth covering, please tell me through the contact page. Corrections are welcome — they make the guides better. I read every message personally.
